Grants

If you received one of these grants or private scholarships beyond what’s listed on your award letter, please let the Student Financial Services Office know as soon as possible. According to current regulations that we’re required to follow, if you’re receiving any form of federal, state or institutional assistance, we reserve the right to decrease your financial aid award when additional resources significantly reduce your need. Typically the first $3,000 of private awards may be used to cover unmet need, and any private scholarship over $3,000 may replace Gordon College Grant aid dollar for dollar. Work-Study (or student loan if requested) may also be reduced if necessary.

Gordon Grants are awarded to students who demonstrate financial need after other sources of aid have beenapplied, like federal and state grants or private scholarships.

Endowed Grants are need-based grants which have been underwritten by alumni and friends of the College and may replace previously awarded Gordon Grants.

Pell Grants are federal grants awarded to students who demonstrate the highest level of financial need. Awards range from $400-$5,350 per year.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG) are college administered federal grants. Awards are determined by the Student Financial Services Office on the basis of exceptional financial need. Generally FSEOG is awarded to Pell Grant recipients.

State Scholarships from the following states may be used when attending Gordon: Massachusetts, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont. State scholarships are awarded by the state and are based upon the information reported on the FAFSA. Check with your state agency regarding deadlines and additional applications.

Private and Local Scholarships are available from a wide array of sources. Local civic clubs, foundations and churches may have private scholarship programs to help meet the costs of education. Last year Gordon students received over $750,000 in private scholarship funds.

Many scholarship listings can be found through high school guidance offices, public libraries and the internet.
